Now I’ve talked about the everyday fashion, which is pretty much low key and simple, but today I venture into the world of beauty far beyond any girl’s dreams. Every girl (well maybe not every girl) has dreamed about owning their own Christian Louboutins or opening up a Tiffany box on their wedding day. If I had that kind of money, I would jump at the chance to own such a fine piece of work.
It may sound like I’m overreacting or exaggerating but every single piece a designer puts out there is art. It is their way of showing the world “I have what it takes.” If it were not for these designers our fashion world would be a completely different story (and less visually appealing ,if I may add).
Let’s start with the French master of men’s trousers for women, Coco Chanel. She is well known around the world for breaking down the barriers of what women should and shouldn’t wear.
Chanel is a brand unlike any other because it has evolved from one woman’s dream. Her dream was to be free of lace, bodices, tacky umbrellas, and the idea that women couldn’t wear pants.
This woman did what no other in her time period would ever fathom of doing. She paved the road for women to realize there is more to life than cooking and looking pretty.
For this, I am eternally grateful. To answer your question, yes I am serious.
Other than Coco Chanel there have been countless designers trying to make the same statement with their designs. She was only the beginning.
Here comes the famous Calvin Klein, known for his scandalous underwear billboards and his initials bedazzled on some girl’s jeans. He has made a statement (what that is I’m still trying to figure out).
He caught people’s attention with beautiful actors and actresses showing off their half naked bodies yet still trying to show that wonderful CK. Brooke Shields was only 15 when she posed topless in Calvin Klein’s jeans.
Year after year some hot new actor is chosen to be on the cover of a magazine sporting CK briefs and some newly made muscles. Great marketing strategy, Calvin Klein.
Just by a couple of pictures, he has captured the attention of millions of people around the world.
Burberry is another favorite in my household and has been around for decades. This brand calls London home. Burberry is known to be advertised and stationed in London. Emma Watson is one of the beautiful spokespersons for the company.
I may not know too much about Burberry but I do know one thing: it’s gorgeous. You think you’ve seen a trench coat but you haven’t seen or touched a limited edition Burberry trench coat (in black or tan). It’s pure magic for a girl like me, who can’t afford the pleasures of the rich life but has seen enough to know its beauty.
Now on to my next love, jewelry. Imagine opening a blue box wrapped tightly with a satin white bow and feeling that satin between your fingertips. Sounds exciting, doesn’t it? This is the joy of opening a Tiffany and Co. Jewelry box.
I haven’t had the pleasure of opening a box (though I hope it comes soon) but I have heard stories. Jewelry like that is irreplaceable and could never be compared.
Diamonds are a girls best friend and Tiffany’s is just the company to provide that. The jewelry may have cost a small fortune but the memory of how it was given is priceless. I would never take the memory away of my cousin on her wedding day opening a blue box from her husband to be. It was beautiful. And I’m not just talking about the pearl tear drop necklace.
It’s safe to say that these designers have equated memories with their products. It would be wrong of me to say that it doesn’t work, because it really does.
Designer items may not always be in reach but just the mere fact that it is there makes it all the more worthwhile. Save your money and buy something nice or if you’re like me, just admire from afar.
