Interviews are a nerve-racking ordeal, but not knowing what to wear can make it even harder, especially if you can not afford fancy suits.
As I said in my previous article, what you wear sets the stage for what type of job you will receive. The way you feel about yourself in your clothes gives off a greater impression than the label on the tag.
Dress for Success is an organization that empowers women to dress their best and feel good about themselves.
According to Dress for Success, the mission is to promote economic disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women in work and in life.
The organization was founded in 1996 by Nancy Lublin in New York City with a five thousand dollar inheritance from her great grandfather.
This organization has 110 affiliates around the world, including Australia, Mexico, Canada, France and many other countries.
One of the goals for the organization is that every woman that walks in for help, receives a suit for her interview. After a woman finds a job, she can return to the organization for additional clothing and accessories if necessary.
Professional Women’s Group is an affiliate of Dress for Success. This service provides women with help in the working world. It allows them to easily find a job and keep it. This program makes women feel confident and make their transition in the work force much easier.
Kim Kardashian and her mother Kris Jenner are celebrity sponsors for the organization.
They are key speakers at almost every meeting in New York City. Kim helps by putting together fashion shows and inspiring other women with her fashion sense.
Anybody can help these women who are striving for excellence in their life. Chicago is one of the many cities that takes part in the Dress for Success organization.
Any woman can get a job. All she needs is the confidence to do it. All over the world, women are struggling to receive or keep jobs depending on their ethnicity or socioeconomic status.
Never feel that help is not available it is out there; the choice to take it depends on the woman and what she is willing to do.
There is no shame in getting help from other women who may be in the same position. As women, we need to stick together and help each other when we fall.
Although students may not have this problem yet, they can still help the organization by donating clothes and helping to organize events.
It is important to feel strong, confident and beautiful so go out there and be a force to be reckoned with.
